President's Welcome

Hello and welcome to the Central and Southern Ohio chapter of HIMSS.  At CSOHIMSS, our core goals are to provide education and advocacy, advancing the effectiveness of Information Technology in Healthcare.  As our ecosystem continues to experience significant change, the importance of this organization becomes increasingly clear.  From transitioning to value-based reimbursement, managing the health of populations/managing chronic disease, establishing standards for interoperability or protecting the privacy of patients, Information Technology is everywhere.  No longer a back office function, Information Technology is now firmly established as a strategic enabler in nearly every area of our healthcare lives.

In support of our educational and advocacy goals, our chapter typically offers Spring and Fall educational conferences, focused on a wide array of topics providing relevant education to those serving in or supporting the Healthcare Information Technology industry.  In addition, our chapter sponsors an annual Advocacy Day at the Statehouse in Columbus targeted to raise awareness within our state government related to important Healthcare Information Technology issues impacting our state. We also typically also have a subject matter expert present a webinar, several times a year, often each month on a variety of healthcare related topics.

If you are new to CSOHIMSS, I encourage you to spend some time on our website to learn about the many benefits we provide and consider participating in the chapter. Whether you are new or very familiar with the chapter, I invite you to consider deepening your involvement by becoming a member; participating in our Membership, Sponsorship or Planning sub-committees; or becoming involved at the board level.
